Great Lakes Clinical Trials Hosts Chicago Alzheimer's Awareness Day

Great Lakes Clinical Trials, in conjunction with the Memory Care Coalition of Chicago and the Swedish American Museum, is proud hosting a major city-wide event on November 8th - Chicago Alzheimer's Awareness Day.  The purpose of this event is to raise awareness across the Chicagoland area about Alzheimer’s Disease and honor those that have joined the fight as participants in clinical research programs.

Alderman Patrick O'Connor (40th Ward) and Alderman Harry Osterman (48th Ward), will be joined by the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Sara Dinges and Great Lakes Clinical Trials President, Steve Satek in discussing the importance of raising awareness around Alzheimer’s Disease and presenting information on new advancements in the fight to cure the disease.

Guests of honor will include participants in clinical research programs and their caregivers. They will talk about their motivation to join research studies and help find a prevention or new treatment for Alzheimer’s disease.

This event will take place at the Swedish American Museum (5211 N Clark St, Chicago, IL 60640) with two presentations provided throughout the course of the day.

Clinicians with expertise in memory disorders will be on hand to answer questions from the attendees. In addition, the Great Lakes Clinical Trials staff will be performing free genetic testing through cheek swabbing for the Alzheimer’s gene and making appointments for free memory assessments.

Lunch and dinner will be provided at no cost. All attendees will be automatically entered into a free raffles prize drawing.

Each session will be limited to 125 attendees. A suggested donation of $5 will be asked at the door to cover the costs of the event.
