Great Lakes Clinical Clinical Trials is pleased to offer you the opportunity to participate in our research study focused on supporting marathon athletes and active runners studying a beta-glucan containing product.Over 50% of marathon athletes report experiencing an increase in nasal congestion and respiratory cold symptoms both before and after their recent marathon event (KGK Science, 2018). These symptoms can result in decreased performance and negatively impact both your training and marathon time.To maintain healthy immunity, athletes should consume a well-balanced diet that meets their requirements for energy, carbohydrate, protein and micronutrients. An adequate intake of amino acids, β-glucans and some essential minerals including iron and zinc and the vitamins A, D, E, B6 and B12 are important to maintain a healthy immune function.Prolonged endurance activities like running may cause a disruption in your immune system and beta-glucan may help provide benefits such as high levels of vitamin C, vitamin E, omega-3 fatty acids, and numerous anti-oxidants Ideal Participants Will Be:
- Women & Men Ages 21 to 65
- Interested in achieving their peak performance
- Who are currently registered, or interested in registering, for a full marathon
- BMI 18 – 35 kg/m2
- Available for 4 visits over 42 days of supplementation
Compensation of up to $500 upon study completion.
